Even today, I am amazed by the number of corporate websites out there with little to no attention to detail. We all know that having a website has become primordial over the past decade but a certain emphasis should be put on the overall look of the project when choosing the design of your website. Particularly with the newest technologies and software that make it possible for your web programmer to create almost anything that you have in mind. Don’t forget that your website will be your potential clients’ first sneak peak into your company’s portrait. You would never go to a business meeting with ripped clothes, why would you allow your website to look unprofessional.

Here are some tips to ensure a good looking feel to your website

As Stated Before, Attention To Detail

When agreeing on the mock-up for your website, make sure every element of a page is discussed, so that once the website is done, there are no surprises on the overall look of each page. Once the website is done, compare it to the mock-up once again, before running it live. Web designers and programmers are good at what they do, but and third opinion cannot hurt, after all, it is your website.

Pick Your Colours Wisely

Often, we think using flamboyant colours or trendy colours can have a great impact on your online presence. It is, when you plan on having continuous maintenance on your site. If instead you plan on keeping it as long as possible (which we wouldn’t recommend), you might want to choose colours that are timelessly classy and that will always be representative of your company. Your logo can be a good starting point to select your colour palette.

Follow Your Instincts

If you truly believe it is possible to have a much better looking website than what is offered to you, keep looking. It is not because you have a low budget that your website cannot have a great looking feel. This may be the case according to certain companies, but not JH-Concept. Yes, the higher your budget, the more work, options and tools, can be put onto your website, but with a basic decent budget, you can always get a website that will come out good.

Flash, Not So Much!

Flash can be a great tool to enhance the overall look of your website, but we would not recommend it for just any companies. First off, because it cannot be read on all smart phone devices, which should be one of your top priorities when planning your online presence strategies and tools. Always be visible to all. If you are a well-known company that can count on other means of marketing, such as hardcore SEO, then maybe, but if not, stay away from Flash. Even though some changes have been made by Google, Flash stays on the blacklist of SEO optimizers, if you want your website to rank, use Flash wisely.

Structure, Structure, Structure!

Be organized, if your website is all over the place, your viewers won’t try to figure out how to use it, they will simply move on to your competitors’, that’s not what you want. Make sure your website template makes sense to you, and is user friendly. Nobody knows better your company that yourself, help your web designer create a representative template of your company by pointing out what is important and what isn’t. Always keep in mind what your costumers are looking for and what are the most frequently asked questions, so that you answer give them all the information effectively and efficiently on your website. Always keep in mind that the more options you give to your viewers, the less likely they will respond according to your goals. In other words, if you want them to order shampoo, make sure it is easy for them to do so.

Social media now affects all facets of business, from marketing to end customer support and everything in between. Social media is where you see products and services feedback. Social media is where you learn what your customers like and don’t like. And it’s the quickest way to build brand recognition within your target market.

The Power of Consumer Influence Online

91% say consumer content is the #1 aid to a buying decision (JC Williams Group)

87% trust a friend’s recommendation over a review by a critic (Marketing Sherpa)

Social network users are 3 times more likely to trust peer opinions over advertising when making purchase decisions (JupiterResearch)

1 word-of-mouth conversation has the impact of 200 TV ads (BuzzAgent)

Social media sites are the fastest-growing category on the Web – doubling their traffic over the last year (Comscore)

Information Technology buyers trust social media more than any other content source (PJA IT Social Media Index)

This is a significant and sad realization for many people, companies and executives in Montreal who do not fully understand or appreciate the value that can be derived via the adoption of social media tools and strategies. Montreal Companies would be wise to embrace the desire and expectations by their employees to collaborate by implementing social media tools for internal purposes to enable greater connections between employees, encourage sharing of practices and experiences, and streamline communication.
